Museum of maritime and military history, including its role as a flying boat base in WWII
Pembroke Dock’s internationally significant heritage is celebrated under one roof in the historic Royal Dockyard Chapel, now Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre.
Displays tell the story of the town from its origins as Wales’ only Royal Dockyard where over 260 vessels were built, including five Royal Yachts.
Later in the town’s history, the Royal Air Force based squadrons of flying-boats in the natural harbour of the Cleddau Estuary and the town became the world’s largest military flying boat station, playing a vital role in the Second World War Battle of the Atlantic.
The town’s remarkable history is recorded and preserved here for families to explore and discover.
Our new exhibition ‘The Millennium Falcon – The Last Ship Built in the Royal Pembroke Dockyard’ is now open.
This permanent installation tells the story of the building of the original iconic Star Wars starship in the town in 1979 for the Oscar-winning film The Empire Strikes Back. It includes many photographs, unique film of the construction in 1979 – not seen in public before – and a detailed scale model of the stages of construction of the original.
